I have a 3D-related question:  What are the requirements on my assets? Can I preserve my UV maps? How about atlas baking? …

If you have specifics technical questions, please check out our

RapidCompact documentation. In case you have specific questions about input data,

you may also want to look at our detailed 3D asset guidelines.

Can I upload CAD formats?

Yes, for all paid plans  this is possible - we support STEP and IGES formats.

I have CAD or any other sensitive data that I want to display on the Web,but I am concerned it could be reverse-engineered. Can you prevent that?

We can do a lot of operations that ensure you are getting a good 3D model for the Web.

In general, in Web apps using WebGL for (client-based) rendering, a 100% protection

is not possible. Also, keep in mind that physical products can be easily re-digitued by anyone

using 3D modelling, shading and/or 3D scanning techniques. We therefore recommend to

rather optimize a model for Web display using one or multiple of the following techniques:

  • Tessellation of CAD data, removing all original parametric surfaces, replacing them with
a triangle mesh (This already happend on import to the RapidCompact Platform)
  • Automatic removal of invisible or small geometry features (Optimization Setting)
  • Optimize and reduce polygon count
  • Storing surface information into textures (normal mapping)

What is an API call and how are they calculated?

We calculate API calls as all actions that involve either a 3D file optimization or a complex transcoding.

Can I use RapidCompact with a REST API?

Yes, the usage of our REST API is possible with a paid subscription plan

Check out our Developer Documentation for details on the REST API.

Can I use RapidCompact as CLI?

Yes, we have on-premise solutions for enterprise clients. If you are interested in learning more,

pleas use this contact form - we're happy to help.

Can I purchase additional API Calls / RapidPoints

when I´m using a subscription plan?

Yes, you can - there is an "Overdraft" feature which offers the configuration of the number of

API Calls / RapidPoints which are allowed to automatically be "overdrafted" by your account.

They will then be simply added to your next bill ("pay-as-you-go").

See our pricing page for more information on plans and overdraft.

How does the billing work?

Your plan is monthly recurring

(You can cancel it anytime for the next month in your account settings:

https://app.rapidcompact.com/app/settings).

The date you signup is fixed and will remain tied to your account (even if you upgrade/change

the subscription plan) - This is your "billing cycle".

Your used monthly API calls will reset always to zero at the next start of your billing cycle.

If you upgrade during the month, there will therefore be only a partial billing for the next tier.

Example:

You sign up on the 1st of January with a Basic subscription.

On the 15th you decide that you would be better served with a Professional plan and upgrade.

You will then be billed with the cost of roughly half the month at the Professional price point,

minus the same amount of time at the Basic price point.

Your monthly API calls are then at the Professional level,

but any points you already used in that month (when you were still at Basic level)

are still considered used.

In addition, there are overdraft points which you can use to perform as many additional API

calls as you have configured yourself (in your account settings), which will then simply be

billed with your next regular monthly bill ("pay-as-you-go").

Can I change or cancel my monthly plan?

Yes, all subscriptions are monthly based. Please see the answer to the question above

(How does billing work) for more info.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can simply cancel your subscription by clicking “cancel plan”,

which you can find in your “Profile & Settings” area in your account (Login here).
